LendUp Volunteers in the Community

LendUp is a mission-driven company — and as we grow, it’s important for us to maintain that culture. As such, we encourage employees to volunteer their time as a part of our commitment to Pledge 1%. We recently volunteered with two great organizations not far from our San Francisco headquarters: St. Anthony’s Foundation and the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

St. Anthony’s Foundation is an organization in the Tenderloin district of the city, focused on providing essential support for San Franciscans living in poverty. Every day, they serve 2,400 hot meals to the community. They also run a medical clinic, have a technology lab, and provide substance recovery assistance, workforce development and social work services. When we volunteered, we helped with their free clothing program, which involved unpacking and sorting clothing donations for the women, men and children that St. Anthony’s serves. If you’re in the Bay Area and willing to part with your gently used 49er’s jacket, One Direction pajamas or Irish-themed Yoda t-shirt (these were actual donations we came across!), you’re invited to donate — or just learn more about volunteering at St. Anthony’s.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department strives to keep our parks beautiful, preserve the environment, and offer enriching recreational activities for the community. Along with volunteers, it relies on skilled, dedicated gardeners and apprentices to maintain more than 225 locations. We volunteered to help beautify Buena Vista Park in the Haight (San Francisco’s oldest official park), where we pulled weeds, raked and cleared out a hilly section along Haight Street. We hope to continue engaging with our community, and encourage others to get involved as well!
